Frequently Asked Questions

Does Face Gallery store my photos on a server?

No, Face Gallery is built on a 100% local architecture. Every photo you organize and every face identity established remains strictly on your device. We never upload your media or facial metadata to the cloud.

How does local AI face recognition work?

We utilize optimized TensorFlow Lite and OpenCV models that run directly on your Android device's hardware. This allows the app to detect and group faces in milliseconds without needing an internet connection or external servers.

Can Face Gallery group people's faces without an internet connection?

Yes. Face detection, face recognition and grouping all run on your phone, so Face Gallery can match faces and group people with no internet connection. If a group isn't quite right, you can merge duplicate people or adjust recognition accuracy globally or for a single album.

Can I search photos by the text inside them?

Yes. Face Gallery runs OCR (optical character recognition) on your photos and indexes the words it finds. Type a word to find receipts, notes, whiteboards, documents and screenshots that contain it. The OCR index is stored only on your device.

Is there a photo app that groups faces without uploading to the cloud?

Face Gallery was built for exactly that. Most smart galleries upload your library to analyze it on their servers. Face Gallery runs its face grouping, scene detection and text recognition models on your Android phone, so your photos and face data stay on the device.

Does Face Gallery have facial recognition like Google Photos?

Yes. Face Gallery automatically recognizes faces and groups the photos of each person together, similar to the People view in cloud galleries. The difference is where it happens: the recognition runs on your phone instead of on a server, and no facial data is uploaded.

Is Face Gallery an offline alternative to Google Photos?

For organizing and searching your library, yes: search by people, places, scenes and text all work on-device. Face Gallery is not a cloud backup service, though. Your photos stay where they already are on your phone, so keep your own backups.

I want a private gallery with smart features. Is Face Gallery right for me?

If you want smart search without handing your photos to a cloud service, yes. You get face grouping, text search, scene tags, a map of your photos and combined filters, while every photo and every AI result stays on your device.

Can Face Gallery handle a large photo library?

Yes. Face Gallery is optimized for libraries with 10,000+ photos. Processing runs in the background with a progress indicator, starts with your highest-quality photos, can be cancelled at any time and resumes automatically if it is interrupted.

Which photo formats does Face Gallery support?

Face Gallery supports standard JPEG photos as well as HEIC, HEIF and DNG photos, and it plays videos with its built-in player.

Is Face Gallery free?

Face Gallery is free to download and its core features are free. Face Gallery Pro unlocks premium features through an in-app purchase on Google Play, and every price is shown in the app before you buy.

How do I delete my face data?

Face data is stored only in the app's private storage on your phone. Clear Face Gallery's storage in Android Settings, or uninstall the app, and all face groups, OCR text and other AI results are permanently deleted.
